Here are the Steps We Follow for Tub Refinishing
- Ensuring a clean tub, use of a razor blade to scrape imperfections and/or sand paper to smooth the surface.
- All caulking gets removed and scraped.
- Apply etch with paint brush and scrub for at least 5-10 minutes.
- Wash down etch and sand with wet sand paper.
- Rinse with water and sponge all over again.
- We use a vacuum to remove water from the caulking line & drainage area.
- We then use a lacquer thinner to rise the tub thoroughly and let dry.
- Securing the shower head and faucet with a plastic bag is important to avoid leaking of any water that may interfere or damage the process.
- The tub and area is then masked.
- A cloth is used to get rid of any remaining debris.
- We place a ventilation system on the floor to reduce fumes & avoid any debris or dust falling.
- A final wipe is done to remove any dust that might be left on the bottom of the tub.
- Two coats of primer is used to cover the entire tub.
- We allow the primer to stand a few moments in between coats then use mixed acrylic polyurethane to spray as a top coat.
- Three to four coats are sprayed on the tub leaving no drips or runs.
